Summary:
I write a poem every day on my website: www.bridgetconwaywrites.com and this is one I wrote on August 10th after walking through my neighbourhood after work. I live in a busy, nightlife populated and crowded area of Sydney.

What is Sydney?

The things that we pay for piled up high on acidic nights

Skylines beaming bright and proud and dead

To the coins that jingle and weigh us down

Wake up to smell the fresh laundry done and hanging above her

The shoreline of sunsets

Overpriced studio apartments

Beer flowing

Streets lined with sweat and rough beauty

But life, ever pulsing

Comes from the city like a swarm of bees

It kept me alive, keeps me here, will always pull me back

And us, meeting at this house near the water

A harbour known around the world

Is our beginning
