You are a piece of every word I say-

The syntax of my tongue.

I don’t know how I know you,

Or how I came to find you here.

All I know is that this is not the beginning,

Nor the end.

I must have known you many times,

Far away and long ago.

Our stories intertwine and I remember,

Things I had forgotten.

A love for you and memories I forgot I knew,

Though I don’t know if we made them.

You are a piece of every word I say-

The air within my lungs.

I don’t know how we came to be,

Nor how to leave you here.
