If your understanding of the Greek Alphabet is limited to Revenge of the Nerds, don’t worry. The Writers Bloc Beta Test has nothing to do that film. It also has nothing to do with one of these obsolete beauties.

Why would we test a beta video player? We know they work.

What we  actually want to test out is the result of months of hard work, trying to create an even better Bloc. We’re so proud of what we’ve made.

Writers Bloc is a real thing.

For the last few months, we’ve been drawing up ideas and building code to make a new hub for emerging writers. A place where you can get quality feedback on your work anonymously. A site where you can read wonderful work for free. For the heart of a growing community of writers, regardless of geography.

Once you’ve logged in, you’ve got a few options. But really, this caper is all about the reading and the writing.

Give your story a bit of context, so the reader knows what kind of feedback you’re after.

Also, it works much like an blog platform and you can easily cut and paste into it from any word processor.

Try and limit your stories about cats to two.

Reviewing

The major benefit of uploading a story is that you’ll get quality feedback from one of our users. You can comment across a bunch of categories (plot, character etc) as well as giving some general advice and a final tick of approval.

Yeah, fair call. It was a bit thin.

There are a bunch more features to the Writers Bloc and we’ll continue to improve it over time. At the moment, the site is a bit like someone getting ready for the Year 10 Formal, all dressed up, a bit wobbly and so full of excitement. We’re going to make some mistakes, which is all part of the fun, and we’d love to hear from you if you’re interested in helping making the site even better.
