We provide a place for people to develop their writing, read fantastic stories for free and create collectives with other emerging writers.
Whether it’s easier for you to engage with us online or off, Writers Bloc is for writers, wherever they are.
We are in the process of developing a website that will change the way that writing is shared. It will reward engaged feedback and elevate great prose.
Offline, in towns all across the country we have groups that operate as part of a larger bloc. See our Groups page for more info on how to get involved with people in your area.
Let us know what you write and we will find you readers who will love to read it.
CONTRIBUTE TO WRITERS BLOC
Writers Bloc is looking for fresh writing and new voices!
We run a number of regular series on the blog, and are always looking for contributors to our “Writers’ Other Jobs”, “What’s My Scene?”, and lit journal reviews series. We’d also love to hear your ideas for stand-alone articles on writing, publishing, and the writer’s life.
Fiction and poetry are sourced primarily from the forums.
At Writers Bloc, we value your time and creativity, and make an effort to pay each of our contributors.
To pitch an idea, get in touch with our Online Editor Sam van Zweden at email@example.com
Who we are
Damian Dunstan is a Sydney graphic designer, web designer and documentary director. He built this and many more websites.
Farz Edraki is a freelance writer, radio producer and small press publisher who moved to Canberra to study, but stayed for Skywhale. She was once described by Lord Monckton as a “kind and charming radio host”. Then again, he doesn’t believe in climate change, so don’t trust his judgment, check her out for yourself at www.farzedraki.com. She makes great audio for us.
Daniel Farrugia is a surfer, a guitarist and one hell of a designer. He makes all our pretty things, as well as being the Design Director at Imagination.
Solange Kershaw and Damian Castaldi are the founders of Last Bureau. They’re currently burrowed away in the Blue Mountains, working at building an even bigger Bloc
Geoff Orton is a teacher, founder of Writers Bloc and Co-ordinator of the Younger Young Writers’ program at the National Young Writers’ Festival. He’s also a tragic Boston Celtics fan.
Sam van Zweden is Writers Bloc’s Online Editor. A Melbourne-based writer and blogger, her work has appeared in The Big Issue, Voiceworks, Tincture Journal, Page seventeen, and others. She’s passionate about creative nonfiction and cross stitch. She tweets @lgwabp.
If you’d like to join us, come say hi at one of our events or get in touch with us at firstname.lastname@example.org
Hope you like what we do.
