Bloc Fun Times | Writers Bloc

We love writing here at Writers Bloc (der). But sometimes, we like getting up from the desk and hanging out with rad people. In keeping with the idea that writers benefit from meeting other writers, we’ve got a bunch of things happening in the next month or so, that we reckon are a bit of alright.

Looking forward to seeing all your smiling faces.

Geoff

Writers Bloc Party

We had such a blast at the last bloc party, we decided to do it again!

However, it’s going to be a bit different this time. Bring along your picnic blankets, your finest tea cakes and a bottle of nicely chilled Rose because this time we’re having the party in a park. The Royal Botanic Gardens to be exact.

We’ll start off with a picnic near Henry Lawson gate and while the afternoon away before heading to a different location for the book swap and finally, make our way to a new spot for the little bit special, story trail.

We’d love to see you and your bookish friends there.

Write Here

Write Here is simple. You turn up, we give you a table to work on, you get a bunch of work done surrounded by other writers. Sounds good, right?

On Saturday, November 16 were running Write Here events in a bunch of different places. Groups in Sydney, Parramatta, Dubbo, Canberra, Perth, Melbourne and the Gold Coast as well as Wellington and Dunedin in NZ have taken part in the past and we’d love to have your involvement again this time. We are asking writing groups and individuals around Australia (and the world) to be part of something that will help make the writing process a little less lonely and we’d love for you to be involved.

If you’d like to run your own #writehere group or are looking for an event in your area, let the WB community know on our forum and we’ll Facebook and Tweet the bejeezus outta it.

Weekly Write Here Sydney meetups

Is once a month too long to wait for the next Write Here session? Never fear, we’re starting a weekly session in Sydney to give you your writing fix. (Let us know if you want one in your city or town)

Same deal as a regular Write Here event, we give you a desk to write for two hours, surrounded by other writers. There will be a writing sprint to get your started and there’s a decent bar if you want to hang around and discuss what you’re working on.

Details:

The Loft bar at UTS
6pm-8pm
Each Monday

It’s also 2 for 1 pizza night, so that’s a bonus. Some pepperoni with your prose, perhaps?

We’d love to see you there. RSVP here

Directions: The Loft is a little hard to find. If you are walking towards UTS from Central station it is up a little lane after the Co-Op bookstore. If you get stuck, I’ll be standing out the front to say hi from 5.45.
