Welcome to the new Writers Bloc website

We are thrilled to announce the launch of our new website, a dedicated space for writers of all genres and styles to connect, collaborate, and create. We’ve built the website to have a lot of the features we wished our old one had (we also think it looks a bit nicer).

  • Share your work and receive constructive feedback from peers on your own blog.
  • Follow your favourite writers and get updates whenever they write something new
  • Join writing groups that are either public or you can create your own private one with friends
  • Keep an eye on all of the wonderful opportunities available such as competitions and challenges.
  • Attend virtual workshops or courses led by experienced authors and industry professionals.
  • Access resources to help you navigate the publishing world from our vast archives.

Your profile – we call it the bloc.bio

This is your profile on Writers Bloc. It’s a great place to add a bio about the things you like to read and write, you can update the profile and banner pics and it has it’s very own blog and timeline to share what you’ve been reading and writing. Or pictures of your cat. We do it too.

Follow your Favourite writers

Once you’ve set up your own profile, you can go forth and find your new favourite writers! Like you, each person on Writers Bloc will have their own profile in which they post and share their writing. A simple follow will mean you get updated when they write something new.

Groups

One of the cool things about the new site is that it’s much easier to “find your people”. Groups can be set up by anyone and be either:

  • Public – open for everyone!
  • Private – people can find the group but need permission to join
  • Hidden – your very own corner of the bloc, just for you and your writing mates.

Each group will an activity feed for people to add links to things they’ve read, or thoughts about certain things. You can invite people to join the group, and also have ability to share resources or even meet via Zoom (coming soon).

Writers Bloc have set up three groups you might like to join:

Bloc Club: any excuse to talk about what you’re reading. There’s also a sub-group called First Book Club for books written by debut writers

Write Here: Each month we meet up all over the country (and world) to write. It could be in a cafe or the local library, but you can bet that it will always be productive. May involve cake.

New Kids on the Bloc: New here? So are we. Come say hi.

Opportunities

It’s back!

I know you’ve all been missing this wonderful part of the Writers Bloc community and as we grow, more and more jobs and opportunities will be added to the site. Anyone can upload or apply to these opportunities, so what are you waiting for!
