What’s your role with NaNoWriMo?
It really depends on where I’m at in my novel. I find if I know what I’m writing it helps but otherwise it can be a little counter-productive. Write-ins are the best for getting motivation and if you’re stuck at a particular plot point and you want to talk it out with people, etc, but when you need to really sit down and focus on where things are going I find it a little distracting. Overall though, it really depends on what kind of a person you are. Myself, I am very easily distracted so I can’t really focus on my writing unless I have a very solid idea of what I want happening.
What kind of thing are you working on? How’s it going?
Currently working on a prequel to another story I’m working on. I’m seeing this as more of an exercise in character development rather than an attempt to get down a really epic story. It’s going really slowly though -I had a pretty full-on October so I didn’t get as much planning done as I should have and it’s really starting to show. I’m not too concerned though -I was in a similar situation last year and still managed to finish, so I think with some perseverance I should be able to make it over the line.
